St. Joseph Grade School is acting with genuine concern to take all necessary preventive measures in view of the potential H1N1 “Swine  Flu” epidemic outbreak. All catholic schools in the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston have been given directives regarding these  measures and have been advised to follow CDC recommendations and to consult with their county health departments. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all our St. Joe families of our student wellness policy.

Please keep your child home if they display the following symptoms;

  • Fever – above 100 degrees Fahrenheit (students will be sent home if they have a temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea – please keep your child home for 24 hours after the fever breaks or the last incident.
  • Symptoms associated with the H1N1: fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, headaches, chills, body aches, vomiting and/or diarrhea and fatigue.
  • If your child is diagnosed with the flu or H1N1 (swine flu) please keep your child home for seven days.
  • If a child becomes ill, parents will be notified to come to the school to pick up their child.
