What a night of Basketball!  WOW!!!  Last night, Jan. 12th, the Irish saw three basketball games and all were victories.

St. Joe boys had its most successful night of the year in two nail biters.  Isaac (6th) scored 11 points in the JV game to lead SJ to a 24-18 win over Enslow Middle School's JV team.  The winning effort for Coach Greg W's JV was sparked by its defense which was led by J.P. (7th).  This game showed the work that the JV has put in this year to get better, as it was their best performance of the year.  Spencer (8th), Alex (8th) and Phoenix (7th) also chipped in points, while Tristan (8th) and Chad (8th) controlled the glass.

In the second game of the evening, Isaac (6th) was again the hero, going 4 for 4 from the free throw line when the pressure was on.  Trace (8th) quarterbacked an Irish team that was led in scoring by John (7th) with 13 and Chad (7th) with 12.  The Irish escaped a last second 3-point attempt that would have tied the game, 42-39. The Varsity is now 7-4.

St. Joseph's High School Girls beat its in-state rival Charleston Catholic last night (Jan. 12th) 82-34.  The girls did a wonderful job especially for the job done by Griffin Dempsey.  Griffin is the daughter of our school's art teacher,  Mrs. Dempsey.  Griffin broke the high school's school record for most points scored in a game with 52.  She made 20-24 field goals, including 12 of 15 three pointers.  An outstanding accomplishment for any athlete but even more so knowing that Griffin is only a Sophomore.  Congratulations!
