St. Joseph Catholic School - Huntington, WV

The Middle School Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball Teams travelled to Ironton St. Joe last night (1/11). 

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS GAME:
The Varsity Girls were tied with Ironton St. Joe 2-2 for over half of the first quarter until the girls calmed down to finish the game strong.  The Lady Irish won 40-8 to move their record to 8-3 on the season.  All nine squad members scored for the Irish. 

Scoring for last night's girls game was as follows:  Allisan B. 10, Catherine J. 7, Becca L. 7, Kadin G. 5, Isabella C. 4, Chelsea G. 2, Elizabeth C. 2, Jamila M. 2, and Desiree D. 1. 

The girls are off until next Tuesday (1/17) when they travel to Beverly Hills Middle School.  The JV game begins at 5:30 Tuesday, followed by the Varsity Game.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS GAME:
Trace A. hit a game winning "runner" shot for the IRISH with 27.4 seconds remaining in the Middle School Boys Game.  The Irish played great defense as Ironton St. Joe had numerous attempts to hit a game winning shot.  The Irish took the momentum back on a Chad D. steal and lay-up with just under a minute left in the contest.  Gabe G. had a big blocked shot at the end of the game to secure the Irish victory.  The Huntington St. Joe boys have a 6-4 record and take the court again tonight (1/12) against Enslow.  The games begin at 5:30 in the school gym with the JV Game, followed by the Varsity Game.
