(Our Version of a Bake Sale, but with food donations instead of money!)
Dear Parents,
Did you know that nearly 15 million children in the United States – 21% of all children – live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level? That’s less than $22,050 a year for a family of four. Research shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 42% of children live in low-income families.
Do your children go to bed each night hungry and malnourished? We are so incredibly blessed to have the means to supply our children with the essentials they need.
Mrs. Cheshire’s Current Events class will be sponsoring a Bake “Trade” during all lunches on Thursday, October 6, 2011. Students are asked to bring in a pantry item to donate to “Feed the Children” on behalf of St. Joseph Grade School. They will in return receive a ticket from their classroom teacher to trade for a cupcake, brownie, cookies, or other baked goods. Students may bring in donations any time from now until Oct 6th and receive a ticket. Your donation of a canned food/pantry item will go to the children who need help the most right now.
Feed the Children’s vision: No child or family should go to bed hungry.
