Dear St. Joseph Catholic School Parents:

We would like to take a moment  to remind you of  our “locked-door” policy here at St. Joe and of the Parent/Student handbook  procedures in place for entering the building.

If you are a Pre-K parent dropping your children off after 8:10 a.m., you will need to visit the office to sign your children in and your children will then be taken to their classroom by an office assistant.  If you are picking up your children prior to dismissal during the day, you must also come to the office and sign your children out – again an office assistant will retrieve your children and bring them to the office for you.  Please refer to the Parent/Student handbook for detailed information .

All doors to the school and any other building on campus will remain locked at all times throughout the day for the safety of our children and staff.  There are door bells located outside the main office doors, the Pre-K building and the Parish Hall doors that will allow you to pick up your children in the after school care programs.  Your children must be signed out each day from those programs.

During each school day, if you need to stop by the school, or drop off a lunch, please ring the door bell outside the main office to announce your arrival and you will be “buzzed in” from the main office.  Please know that you are most welcome at St. Joseph Catholic School but you must start your visit in the main office.

Children are not permitted to open a door for any parent, even if that parent is you.  We must instill in each child that only teachers and staff members are permitted to allow anyone into the building.  This is for the safety of the children, which is our first priority.  Please do not be offended if a child, even your own, does not allow you into the building.

Faculty and staff members are regularly reminded, not only to keep doors locked but to be vigilant of our campus surroundings.  Rest assured that your child is being escorted to any outside activity by a staff member and are under constant supervision while outside during recess times and moving from one building to another.

We wish everyone a wonderful three-day weekend – GO HERD  &  MOUNTAINEERS!!

Many blessings,

St. Joseph Staff
