Parents/Guardians:
Testing week takes place the week after Spring Break, March 28- April 1 for grades K-8. The Terra Nova and the In View will again be given throughout the diocese. There are a few suggestions that I have discussed with the students throughout the week in order to help optimize their performance on the test. I would like to also add that since Spring Break is the week before, try to use Sunday as a relaxing day, read a book or play a family board game. This will help with any test anxiety as well as get them focused back on school. Here are a couple of websites that have more helpful tips for the days leading up to testing as well during testing days:
1) http://www.northwarren.org/userfiles/stud-parent-tips10-Standardized-Testing.pdf
2) http://www.ehow.com/list_6569186_standardized-test-tips-parents.html,
3) http://dakotavalley.k12.sd.us/district/files/Microsoft Word - Prepare for Standardized Testing.pdf.
The top five Test preparation tips include the following:
1) Be sure to get plenty of rest the night before and during the week of testing.
2) Eat a healthy, well balanced breakfast before each day of testing.
3) Be prepared, have two sharpened pencils with erasers and a snack each day.
4) Listen/read the directions carefully.
5) Take a deep breath, relax, and try your best!
Have a wonderful Spring Break,
