
Dr. Loretta Long, who has played the character Nurse Susan on
“Sesame Street” since its first season, has a new role – Visiting
Multicultural Scholar in Residence at Marshall University. She will
be on campus October 25-29. During her Marshall visit, Dr. Long
will lecture in the College of Education, College of Fine Arts, Cabell
County Schools and St. Joseph Catholic School.
Dr. Long received a doctorate in education from the University
of Massachusetts. She has served several other institutions as a
consultant and distinguished visiting scholar. She also has taught a
variety of courses on multiculturalism, diversity and education. On
“Sesame Street,” the Nurse Susan character over the years evolved
from housewife to nurse to working mother.
